Research has always been an important part of Sansum Clinic, as established by our pioneering founder Dr. William David Sansum - the first American to successfully isolate, produce and administer insulin to treat diabetes. The Clinical Research Department (phone, fax, hours, directions) was formally created in 1993 to provide quality research studies for our patients. The mission of our Clinical Researchers is to provide dedicated and successful clinical trials management services to our patients, physicians, and the community at large in the safest and most accurate, efficient and expedient manner possible. We are devoted to providing world-renowned quality in research and medical care.

Your Role in Research
A clinical trial is a research program conducted with participants to evaluate a medical treatment, drug or device that may not yet be approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) as required in the United States. The purpose of clinical trials is to find improved methods of treating different diseases and special conditions.
People participate in clinical research for a variety of reasons. Patients who volunteer can gain access to alternatives to the "standard" treatment before it is available to the general public. A benefit to participation is that subjects are monitored closely by our medical staff, and receive all procedures and medication at no cost. Clinical research is not only beneficial for those who participate, but also for fellow patients. It is very important for the advancement of scientific understanding and improvements in medical care. Such advancements lead to medical breakthroughs that help people all around the world. By participating in, or contributing to, Sansum Clinic Clinical Research you help ensure healthier lives for all of us. Thank you.
